Condition Monitoring

The modern concept of Condition Monitoring is the process of monitoring a parameter of condition in machinery [Vibration Analysis and Unbalance Diagnostics, Ultrasound Testing (Flaw Detection / Thickness Testing), Infrared Thermography, Acoustic Emission Level, Lubricant Analysis etc.], in order to identify a significant change which is indicative of a developing fault. It is a major component of predictive maintenance. The use of condition monitoring allows maintenance to be scheduled, or other actions to be taken to prevent accidental failure and avoid its consequences. Condition monitoring has a unique benefit in that conditions that would shorten normal lifespan can be addressed before they develop into a major failure. Condition monitoring techniques are normally used on rotating equipments and other machinery [Turbines, Pumps, Generators, Electric Motors, Industrial Fans, Blowers, Crushers, CHP / RMP Conveyor Drums / Pulleys (Driving Drum, Tail Drum) Internal Combustion Engines, Presses], while periodic inspection  using non-destructive testing techniques and fit for service evaluation are used for stationary plant equipment such as Steam Boilers, Critical Piping, Headers, Water Wall, Steam Tubes, Air / Flue Gas Ducts, Hoppers, Gas Holders, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Ash Slurry Pipe Lines, Fan & Pump Casings, CHP Transfer Chutes and its Liners, etc.

Even the most thorough & comprehensive routine maintenance program cannot stop faults developing in machinery. Worst-case scenario is that faults lead to unexpected failures before your next scheduled maintenance outage. Condition Monitoring puts you in the driving seat to actively prevent breakdowns and optimize maintenance resources where and when they’re needed. Condition Monitoring assess the health of a machine by periodic monitoring and analysis of data obtained during operation trending the results against levels of acceptability. Efficient, non-intrusive to the production process and with the proven potential to save thousands of Rupees in secondary damage, lost production and unnecessary maintenance – Condition Monitoring is the proven, preventative maintenance approach for early fault detection and prevention in all types of production machinery. Every organization having so many Roto-Dynamic and Stationery Machines / Equipments might be requiring close Condition Monitoring to avoid unexpected break-down and loss of machine hours.
